I am a currently an MFA student in University of Miami's film school, recently graduated from Brown. I'm an aspiring singer, actor, writer, and/or filmmaker... basically, I'll take what I can get. My first true love is performing, but the film critic in me just won't shut up, and I love writing and directing things, too. I think I wear too many hats (literally and figuratively). Yeah, Volver is pretty awesome. Pedro never disappoints.
Have you both seen it already?
I would've given it an A except I thought it wasn't quite perfect; it just dragged a little in spots, and had some dull stretches. But it's got the Almodovar magic in spades. Maybe if I see it again, I'll upgrade it. It's totally the closest thing to an A film this year.
Yeah, I saw it at the festival. Am considering an upgrade too, but am waiting for a second viewing to really feel confident about it.
Excellent! The same grade I give it too.
I saw it twice back in August. Still not sure whether it's an A or an A-. In any case, it's amazing.
