There's a pretty sweet sale on Amazon.com...

...if anyone's interested. Lots of DVDs are half off.

I just bought Gosford Park, Mulholland Dr., Far From Heaven and Lost in Translation for $8 each. Merry Christmas to me!

Actually, I once owned Mulholland but lost it/had it stolen along with the rest of the DVDs I owned 4 years ago (painful story there). And since it has NO features whatsoever, not even scene selection, I didn't think of buying it again until the price dropped to $8.

I also once owned FFH, but I seem to have lost the actual disc, plus it has new cover art now that's MUCH much better, so I thought it was worth plunking down another $8.

But I have never owned Gosford or LiT. I try to limit myself now to about one new release DVD per year (Eternal Sunshine for '04, BBM for '05), plus classic DVDs (there are more of those coming out all the time), cause there's little point in owning every DVD in the world. But sales are sales.

I also really have to buy the new Wizard of Oz 3-disc edition and the LOTR extended editions. But those are expensive...

Well, the operative word is "try."

But really, if you're seeing like 50 movies in the theater per year, that's like $400. How much more can one spend on movies?

But I do own five now from '01 (Moulin Rouge, Hedwig, Gosford, Mulholland, and Fellowship). Some years just have too many jewels.

This year I have little desire to buy anything so far except The Fountain.

I'm really, really, really afraid to answer that question. It would be funny if it weren't so horribly, horribly pathetic.

I used to buy tonnes of DVDs but I don't so much anymore. When I do these days it's mostly big editions of things (Showgirls VIP Edition for example) or tv shows (there is so few good tv shows on that I wanna start hiring our The Sopranos from Blockbuster.)

Yeah I just bought season 4 of Mary Tyler Moore on Amazon. I am eagerly awaiting season 5. Though season 4 is kind of the best one. I highly recommend it to everyone.
