About Me
- Name: adam k.
- Location: Miami, FL, United States
I am a currently an MFA student in University of Miami's film school, recently graduated from Brown. I'm an aspiring singer, actor, writer, and/or filmmaker... basically, I'll take what I can get. My first true love is performing, but the film critic in me just won't shut up, and I love writing and directing things, too. I think I wear too many hats (literally and figuratively). This blog is an outlet for my many wild passions, and a way to kill all my spare time. Also, I like to keep my sidebar REALLY full, so if you wanna see archives, just keep on scrolling down ; )

My predictions:
Drama Categories:
Picture: Atonement / No country for
Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis
Actress: Marion Cotillard
Comedy or Musical:
Picture: Sweeney Todd
Actor: Johnny Depp
Actress: Helena Bonham Carter / Ellen Page
Others:
Supporting Actor: Javier Bardem
Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett / Jennifer Jason Leigh / Saorsie Ronan
Directing: The Coen Bros. / Tim Burton
Screenplay: Atonement
Music: Atonement / The kite runner
Song: Love in the time...
Foreign Picture: 4 months 3 weeks... / PErsepolis / The edge of heaven
animated Picture: The Simpsons (Beloved at Golden Globe)
That's exactly what I'm thinking too. I could see Daniel Day-Lewis' award going to Javier Bardem though if they decide to nominate him in Lead. Either way, methinks that Bardem is the lockiest lock for all awards he'll be in consideration for this fall.
Depp seems incredibly likely, as does Blanchett and Bardem. And Foreign might just be La Vie en Rose.
This'd be a pretty sweet roster of winners, I gotta say. Which is why it probably won't quite happen.
I don't think Bardem is going lead. But the globes are weird.
I would LOVE to see Johnny Depp and Amy Adams accepting globes. And they'd probably be drunk! It'd be awesome.
And I'm starting to think they'll double-nominate Depp just to guilt him into actually showing up.
I have a feeling Hairspray is actually going to win Best Picture C/M. They've never gone for Burton's stuff I believe and Hairspray is (apart from being very good) quite up their alley. But I don't know.
I also think they'll give the drama actress prize to Marion Cotillard or Keira Knightley (depending on if they go ape shit for Atonement)
I wouldn't be surprised if Enchanted won the globe at this point. Or even Once. I have no idea. I don't think we'll have a better idea until we see how many noms each of the big contenders get. Any of he musicals could be huge with the globes, or not. I don't think there'll be a real frontrunner.
I think drama actress is between Christie and Cotillard.
I think comedy/musical will go to Adams.
...which doesn't give any good idea of the oscar race now does it?
Thing is Christie's film was out aaages ago and didn't make much money. Sissy Spacek, when she won for In the Bedroom, had her film out right then and it was making money and it was the season's "little movie that could" that was on the tip of everyone's tongue. Unless Christie wins a swag of critics awards I can't see her winning the Globe.
Which still leads to me think Keira could take it. Most importantly, she'll have heat, which can win you a Globe all by itself.
I agree with everything except for Actress - Musical/Comedy. I think Cotillard or Page could win it. Adams is a possibility. I feel bad because I don't have her in my predictions of the 5 nominees. She's an alternate, but they do sometimes put 6 nominees so you never know.
The Best Actress Race in Drama Race is little boring now because Cotillard put in a Musical or Comedy Category:
-Julie Christie (Will win / No one else, only Cotillard and Linney)
-Cate Blanchett (Maybe... / Helen Mirren, Sigourney Weaver and Joan Plowright won two Golden Globes)
-Angelina Jolie (I like her performance but win... she has three Golden Globes...)
-Keira Knightley (I don't think so, but it's possible)
The fifth flot? My favorite candidates:
-Naomi Watts (Maria Bello factor)
-Wei Tang (Ang Lee is beloved at Golden Globes)
-Jodie Foster (It's Jodie...)
-Parker Posey (I hope so)
Everything is possible:
-Halle Berry (Star factor)
-Marcia Gay Harden (Only if the HFPP remember the film)
-Giovanna Mezzogiorno (Beautiful and talented actress in a bad reviewed film... Ziyi Zhang)
In comedy or Musical:
Lock for win:
-Marion Cotillard
-Helena Bonham Carter (Plus for film & Depp-Burton love)
likely:
-Linney (Sorry but...)
-Page (Too young-especially at Golden Globes-, Recognition for the nomination)
the fifth flot?:
-Amy Adams (Disney factor & possible star)
-Nikki Blonski (Musical fave)
Maybe sixth flot:
-Keri Russell (More changes at the Satellites...)
-Nicole Kidman (Maybe, maybe not)
-Evan Rachel Wood (Next year for "I'm bloom")
